In Paris, the Cameroon Bar Association took part in a series of engagements focused on investment in Africa, the evolving practice of law and strengthening professional ties with international players in the legal sector.
On 7 and 8 September 2026, a delegation of Lawyers and Advocates-in-Training from the Cameroon Bar Association participated in the legal conference “Succeeding in Investment in Africa”, organised in partnership with the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) and the Paris Bar.
Discussions addressed key legal and practical issues affecting investment in Africa, with a particular focus on Cameroon, including investment protection, foreign exchange regulations and investment incentives.
On 8 September, the President of the Cameroon Bar Association moderated the dedicated Cameroon panel, featuring Barristers Sorelle Fonssouo, Vanessa De Happi and Joel Noussie.
As a follow-up to the conference, on 10 September 2026, a strong delegation of the Cameroon Bar Association, led by the President of the Bar, and supported by distinguished members including Barrister Marie Andrée Ngwe, met with international African-focused law firm Asafo & Co. The meeting was initiated by the Bar Secretary, Barrister Serges Martin Zangue.
The discussions explored opportunities for collaboration between Cameroonian and international law firms, particularly in cross-border transactions, as well as ways to strengthen the integration of African lawyers into international legal networks, in compliance with applicable regulations.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the President of the Bar to advocate for greater support from Africa-focused international firms towards the development of Cameroonian legal expertise and professional infrastructure. The proposals were well received, with concrete commitments made, the implementation of which will be followed up.
Through these initiatives, the Cameroon Bar Association continues to promote the international exposure of its members, build bridges with global legal networks and contribute to the growing recognition of Cameroonian legal expertise.
