REPORT ON THE VISIT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE CAMEROON BAR ASSOCIATION TO SOME FRENCH BAR AND TRAINING CENTERS BETWEEN THE 16th AND 27th OCTOBER 2025

The Bar Secretary hereby informs Advocates and Advocates-in-Training that the Bar President recently undertook a working visit to France at the behest of some French Bars and colleagues of Cameroon Bar practicing in French Bars.

During this mission, he held working sessions with the Presidents of the Bars of Paris and Bordeaux, as well as with Cameroonian Advocates enrolled in these Bars. He also met with key strategic partners, including the President of the National Conference of Bars, a former President of the Paris Bar, and the executives of the Paris Arbitration and Mediation Center.

These exchanges addressed several crucial issues, notably the training of advocates and Advocates-in-Training, as well as matters relating to assisting the Bar in sourcing avenues to finance bar activities, including towards the construction of the Bar headquarters.

The leaders agreed on the importance of strengthening existing partnerships between their Bars, particularly through inter-Bar exchange programs. The modalities of these collaborations will be defined in framework agreements to be concluded between the Bar Association of Cameroon and the Bars of Paris and Bordeaux separately.

The discussions held by the Bar President with Cameroonian Advocates residing in Paris, Bordeaux and other French Bars provided the latter with a clear and accurate understanding of the president initiatives, those of the Bar Council, and the future prospects of the Bar Association. These encounters generated renewed enthusiasm among colleagues, who expressed their commitment to actively and constantly participate in the activities of the Cameroon Bar Association, particular in assisting the training of younger colleagues.

Within his outreach trip, the President found time to visit some major law firms with whom h e opened up negotiations for mentorship schemes and programs.

All these negotiations shall culminate in the execution of partnerships in the immediate future.

The protection of the Lawyers’ dignity in the exercise of his duty was a core issue examined by the president of the Cameroon Bar and the President of the “Conference Nationale des Barreaux” (CNB) who undertook to enlist the Cameroon Bar in the membership of Association for the protection of lawyers in danger in the discharge i n the duties.

The Bar President expresses gratitude to all colleagues who contributed to the organization of this visit either in booking appointments, physical presence or any form o f input that brought the registered results.
