Bar Association – MINESUP, for an adequacy between the teachings and the careers of law

This is the substance of the meeting held on November 2, 2022 between the President of the Bar, Mr. Eric MBAH and officials of the Ministry of Higher Education.

Several resolutions have sanctioned the dense and fruitful exchanges between the Ministry of Higher Education and the Bar Association on these subjects. The Ministry of Higher Education committed itself to communicate to the Bar the list of the faculties of the approved universities, authorized to train and deliver law degrees. Furthermore, it shall initiate a letter of introduction of the Cameroon Bar Association to the said universities to invite them to associate the Bar Association in the elaboration of curricula and programs with a view to promoting an adequacy between the teachings and the careers in law, particularly that of the Bar.

The Cameroon Bar Association shall be associated with the National Commission on Training Abroad which has the competence to rule on requests for equivalence of diplomas. A multi-sectoral mission in charge of periodic field visits to universities will be set up to, on the one hand, evaluate the implementation of policies in general and, on the other hand, assess the recommendations relating to the availability of diplomas. The two parties also agreed on the collaboration of the Bar Association in the training of law students from accredited faculties by welcoming and placing them in law firms as part of the practical part of the teaching.
